This was not the simplest of the tasks and my husband spent long time trying to figure out the connections and chasing the ancient pipe clamp tool, but as we have been so excited about the idea it was all worth it!
So here it is - just installed stair balustrade made of electrical conduit.
Industrial and edgy looking, flexible enough to follow peculiar arrangement of bespoke timber stair.

What a great idea! It looks fabulous. I love how the metal looks with all the white and the wood.
ReplyDeletethank you ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative post! I never imagined that a pipe clamp can be turned into a stair handrail! Well, its rough look makes your handrail look cool. But I bet it will be edgier if you paint it. Not only will it look clean if it's painted, but painting it can also prevent your hand rail from rusting or corroding easily. Anyway, in case you plan to paint it, I suggest that you use powder coating, rather than conventional liquid paint; it's safer and environmentally friendly.

Eryn, thank you for your comment. I like the rough look of our balustrade. Its treated so it will not rust, the environment where its installed is not very humid. Powder coating would require taking it somewhere else which would increase carbon footprint for making this one of piece.
