travel: Amsterdam

We decided to spend last days of 2013 in Amsterdam. 

Worry was that five days city break might be to much for 4 year old, but we couldn't be further from the truth.

 Sam enjoyed everything from museums, boat trips and shopping to bike riding. Amsterdam apart from being great party place is extremely family friendly and full of inspiration. We haven't  managed to see half of the things we have planned! Here is just a quick report with highlights of our trip.

when in Amsterdam I always visit this place.

Hotel Droog headquarters of fabulous Droog Studio.

 Some of their designs (milk bottle lamp) can be found on display at Stedelijk Museum. 

Droog prepared as well holographic projection of Christmas Tree in the atrium of Rijksmuseum 

which was absolutely beautiful.

I have no idea how come it took me so long to get this post ready but here it is: 

I wanted to share my love to one of the finest designers of kids furniture Rafa Kids. 

This creative couple use their experience as architects and parents to design unique range of kids beds. Collection includes toddler and teenage beds and wonderful combinations suitable for sharing in the room.

black & white life

I just spent week at home with my poorly boy. Such a long time for three year old without going out! It can really make you go crazy. So apart from watching Cars and Ice Age ten times a day, we were also drawing, painting, cutting and in general making as much mess as possible.

Me and Samuel are now obsessed with clouds. All started from Mr Jack Black and leftover white balloons. We dressed ceiling in Sam's room with clouds and since then I'm making clouds on my graphics. 

also: something old and something new ended up on the shelves in our dining: this minimalistic cast iron vessel by Tom Dixon and super heavy vintage mince meat machine I found in the basement. Such a contrast between two things made from similar materials.

Annaleena

As soon as I read this post  I had to share it with you. I have always been huge fan of Annaleena's work. Her designs are edgy, raw and bring unique aesthetics and thinking to life and interiors. 

I am amazed by simplicity of clothing hangers and roughness of candle holders. Pyramids and diamond pieces look like just carved out from the steel rock - simple and cold but retain the power of hands that shaped them.

On her blog you can find more fantastic shots of her creations, beautiful home and everything else that inspires , and will definitely inspire you. Feast for the eyes.
