Pastels

Couple of weeks ago Kvadrat brochure landed on my desk at work. What surprised me was not only simplicity of editorial, but most of all the way the fabrics have been presented. 

It is very hard to show textiles in the right way on online swatches or paper editorials. 

You can never tell the real textures and cannot be sure about the colours till samples arrive.

Shots presented in this little book were totally different- surprisingly simple and honest, not loosing anything from the richness of textiles.

Kvadrat always inspires me- this Danish brand is creative and fresh. Collaboration with artists, architects and designers (to mention at least Tord Boontje, Patricia Urquila or Paul Smith) makes it innovative and constantly changing.

I love pastel collections of Skyline, Divina and Messenger. 

They some much in the current trend of pastel hair and latest collection of Ghost chair by Phillipe Starck launched by Kartell.

I have used some of Kvadrat pastel textiles for my recent designs.

these little spring flowers from my boy inspired me to look for a neutral earth tones in decorating our bedroom, neutral texture rich canvas will be perfect background for splashes of neon colours which I like so much this spring

I have started work on series of accessories and stationery which are totally based on wabi-sabi concept which totally suits my MESy style and suits re-used and upcycled nature of my creations.

Here is the scrap tote bangs series inspired by music and colours. All of them are made of fabric scaps and samples, reused beads and safety tape from b&q.

I have started to experiment with wood recently, this is mainly to this that Tony is working on the house and we have lots of offcuts laying around. There is either option to burn it in our wood burner or do something creative with them. I have managed to rescue few pieces from tragic end and had a little play. Samuel was around and decided that they would be perfect for his mini city as wooden blocks. So a bit of sanding and paint and managed to create bunch of geometric shapes which you can use to create skyscrapers, boat, tower or whatever yet comes to your head. They also look lovely as a little sculpture decoration on my shelf.
